In order to establish a regularity, there are predefined events in Scrum. Each event is limited in time and therefore only has a maximum duration. The duration of a sprite is fixed from the beginning and may not be changed, but the other events may be terminated when they have fulfilled their purpose.

The events — with the exception of the sprint itself — are an opportunity for adjustment and review, because the purpose of events is to provide transparency and review at critical points.

The Sprint
The sprint is a period, maximum one month, in which the usable product increment is produced. Sprints should always have the same length within a development project.

A sprint consists of Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Development Work, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective. Each sprint has a goal, a design, and a flexible plan.

During the sprint, care should be taken to ensure that no changes are made that could jeopardize the goal and that the scope of requirements can change as new insights become available.
The advantages of a sprint are, firstly, predictability, because progress is reviewed at least once a month, and secondly, risk is reduced to the cost of a month, because sprints are limited to a calendar month.
