Scrum theory? — What is this?
→ Scrum is a framework in which complex tasks can be tackled in order to develop products that are as productive and creative as possible, and which deliver the highest possible value.
Scrum is used to manage the work on complex products. It combines different processes and techniques and thus brings out the effectiveness of product management and working techniques. The goal is to continuously improve the team and the working environment.
Consisting of a Scrum team and the roles, events, artifacts and rules, each component in Scrum serves a purpose and is jointly responsible for success.
Use of Scrum
In the early 1990s Scrum was developed to manage and develop products, it is used to research and identify profitable markets and to develop products and extensions. Scrum is used in all areas such as car manufacturing, schools, government and marketing projects.
Theory
Scrum is based on the theory of empirical process control (short: empiricism). Knowledge is drawn from experience and decisions are made on the basis of this knowledge. The most important aspects here are transparency, review and adaptation.
Transparency:
- The processes must be visible for those who are responsible for the result
- A common standard must be established to ensure a common understanding
- For example, a common process language
Review
- Progress should be reviewed regularly to ensure that the Sprint target is being met, but not so frequently as to interfere with work
Adjustment
- If it is determined that the aspects deviate from the acceptable limits, the process must be adjusted
- At best the adjustment takes place as soon as possible
