APPLICATION MANAGEMENT

--

Definition
Application Management (AM), also known as Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), is the development and management of applications, systems and programs that are adapted to customer needs. This allows costs to be saved, security and flexibility to be increased, and the company to concentrate better on its day-to-day business.

On the one hand, the technologies can be used to increase sales for a better customer experience and higher employee satisfaction. This includes networked devices or intelligent automation mechanisms: the tasks that have been taken over by humans are then taken over by computers or machines.

The profession of the application manager

An Application Manager works in the IT area and develops applications and programs that are tailored to customer needs.
He takes over all activities that belong to the area of software support for customers. His or her main tasks consist of designing the software in such a way that the company is successful and a smooth operation is guaranteed.

An application manager must have technical understanding, IT knowledge and strategic thinking.

Tasks of an Application Manager

The focus of the Application Manager is to look after special programs or systems. The maintenance and expansion of functions take up a large part of the work. Because unforeseeable events can happen, the job is relatively diversified. It is in demand in every industry in which digitization plays a role, but especially in IT.
